The Horse-Fiddle Festival awarded its best performers on February 15. Composer S.Munkhbat and poet M.Khurelsukh were awarded the Grand Prize for their song ‘Khurmastyn duuch shuvuu.’ U.Uyanga singer at the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet (MSATOB) and member of the group Voice sang the award winning composition.
-How did you get the chance to sing ‘Khurmastyn duuch shuvuu’? -The song is a young masterpiece. Two years ago composer Munkhbat suggested that I sing it and I listened to the song at the Union of Mongolian Composers. I really like the song because it is about a singer. I agreed without any hesitation. Then the composer, poet and I worked on the lyrics and melody.
-What about the song specifics? -Composer Munkhbat creates good melodies. Audiences mostly know his song ‘Boroo’ (Rain) and ‘Khurmastyn duuch shuvuu’ is also an excellent song. The subject of the song sings about how one can remain faithful to his/her mother country, parents, and things that he/she believes are precious. People can feel these emotions from the song. It is brilliant that a singer would sing about herself. -How was Horse-Fiddle 2012 different from past competitions? -It was different because mostly young singers participated. S.Munguntsetseg and Ch.Altantulkhuur singers at the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet took part. -How about your latest shows? -I will perform concerts in Sweden, Switzerland and Belgium during the White Month.
